Officially placed in competition by Renault itself, the R17 is the first car from the French manufacturer’s collection to win a race in the World Rally Championship. In the capable hands of Jean-Luc Thérier and Christian Delferrier in 1974, this Renault 17 Gordini Gr. 5 is the culmination of 14 different cars prepared by the factory. Weighing in at barely 820 kg thanks to a number of aluminium elements, the engine was improved to 180 hp.
